OUR MISSION
At East Madison Skating School, we teach our skaters more than just how to skate. We teach them how to fall, get back up, and face life's challenges with confidence, resilience, and determination. Every lesson is an opportunity for kids and adults to build strength, perseverance, and self-confidence while discovering the joy of ice skating.
Our mission is to make ice skating sports accessible to families throughout the Madison community in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Driven by our passion for the ice and decades of experience, we strive to help skaters of all ages develop not only strong skating skills, but also lifelong values such as grit, compassion, teamwork, and respect. We believe it's never too late to learn to skate, and we welcome adults who are discovering the ice for the very first time or returning to it after many years.
The lessons learned at the rink extend far beyond the ice. By encouraging skaters to challenge themselves, support one another, and celebrate every achievement, we help build confidence that carries into school, home, work, and everyday life.
Our vision is to create a community where families can learn, grow, and develop a lifelong love of ice skating for generations to come. East Madison Skating School is proud to provide a safe, supportive space where every skater has the opportunity to thrive, both on and off the ice.
Skating for everyone, at every level.
East Madison Skating School at Hartmeyer offers classes for all ages and skill levels. Whether your child has never laced up a pair of skates or you're an adult looking to get back on the ice, we have a class for you.
Classes include basic skating skills as well as specific programs for hockey players and figure skaters. Our experienced instructors are passionate about helping skaters build confidence, stay safe, and progress at their own pace.
Each class includes a bonus: students get 30 minutes of free practice ice on the opposite side of the rink on their class day — at no extra cost.
